CareerWise is a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization that creates life-changing opportunities for the youngest generation of America’s workforce. We build industry-led, student-centered, modern youth apprenticeships through classroom and on-the-job learning providing flexible, alternative pathways to economic mobility. We have hundreds of CareerWise apprentices in the workplace, charting new paths to academic and career success. In addition, workforce and education leaders from across the country have visited CareerWise to learn about our youth apprenticeship model. As a result, our programs have launched in multiple states, leveraging our institutional knowledge, technology, and infrastructure.

We’re looking for someone who can lead a highly talented team of technology experts to build a Salesforce technology platform that delivers substantial value to stakeholders across our CareerWise Youth Apprenticeship Network. You have deep Salesforce experience and are exceptional at translating between business needs and technical solutions and effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Job Summary

Reporting to the VP of Product Operations, the (Sr.) Director of Salesforce Technology will lead a talented team responsible for delivering technology tools that drive the success of our youth apprenticeship programs nationwide. Our innovative external technology product comprises the Hiring Hub, Apprenticeship Hub, and Learning Hub – interconnected Salesforce-based platforms enabling thousands of young people to apply for and progress through apprenticeships, supported by their employers. Internally, our network uses Salesforce and various other tools (Atlassian, Monday.com, Google Suite) to support our partners, manage data, and facilitate effective apprenticeships.

You will provide cross-functional leadership to set strategic direction, continually enhance product features, and drive adoption through exceptional user experiences.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • ROADMAP AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT | You own the technology team’s roadmap, in alignment with broader organizational goals, and are responsible for leading the team to deliver high-quality technology solutions by providing both strategic guidance and hands-on technical problem-solving support.
  • SALESFORCE EXPERT | You will support the team in developing customized solutions within the SF platform. You will help design and deliver tech solutions that support program implementation alongside product owners, architects and developers. You will clearly communicate tech projects across multiple channels and groups with varying levels of SF knowledge.
  • LEADERSHIP | You work closely with leadership when tech-related decisions are made and you manage the communication and rollout of those decisions. You establish strategies and priorities for your team that maximize staff expertise. You supervise, recruit, and evaluate staff and foster ongoing opportunities for learning and development. You responsibly oversee the tech department budget and monitor resources to optimize overall costs.
  • TECHNOLOGY CHAMPION | You have a thorough understanding of key business drivers and how technology can best be used to support and enhance overall organizational performance. You drive efficiency and productivity by modeling best use of technology to stakeholders and you assess processes, policies, and existing resources when considering new technology and/or add-on features for existing technologies.
  • PARTNERSHIP & COLLABORATION | You partner with the entirety of the CW organization! You have a deep understanding of what CW does and how to best support our internal and external stakeholders.  As a result, you tirelessly work to bring together decision-makers and end-users to adapt tech to user needs.  You thoughtfully ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of the tech needs of your stakeholders.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Key competencies to be successful in this role:

  • Advanced certifications and/or comparable experience using Salesforce
  • Experience leading Software Development Lifecycles and experience with Agile methodologies

  • Able to develop a broad understanding of full suite technology options that best support the tech needs for CW, both internally and externally, and deliver strong recommendations
  • Understanding of user research methods and a sense of empathy, usability, and concern for users and clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others and lead collaborative problem-solving processes
  • Strong people leader able to develop and support team members
  • Strong project manager with the ability to prioritize and execute against multiple priorities
  • Effective change agent, builds stakeholder support and deploys effective management processes in a continuously changing environment
  • Lives out the CareerWise values and has a passion for the CareerWise mission and vision

Additional proficiencies:

  • Progressive experience using products in the Salesforce Ecosystem (i.e. marketing cloud, sales cloud, experience cloud, service cloud, NPSP)
  • Experience with Learning Management Solutions like Docebo
  • Experience using Google Suite, Atlassian Suite (service center, Jira, Confluence), MDM (i.e. Jamf), Microsoft Suite (i.e. active directory, azure), cyber security suite (i.e. Kaseya products, managed SOC), Lucid Chart (or similar), and Figma
  • Experience and interest in working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to understand and interpret the multiple complexities of the evolving youth apprenticeship movement

Location:

While it is preferred that the person selected reside in the Denver, CO or New York City, NY area, all qualified candidates will be given full consideration regardless of geographic location. Travel to Denver and/or NYC is expected to be ~2-3 days per month. There may also be occasions (possibly 1-3 times per year) for all CareerWise staff to gather in-person. Exceptions will be made for special circumstances.

Compensation:

Based on experience, this role may be hired as a Director or Senior Director position. The starting salary range for this role is: $95,481 (min) – $155,000 (max) annually; this role is exempt from overtime and the minimum wage provisions of the FLSA. CareerWise offers a generous benefits package including group medical, dental, and vision plans, short-term disability, 100% vested 401k plan with a 3% employer contribution, and flexible time off.
